Fitch Calling For Changes To Provincial Cabinet

Provincial Conservative leader Bruce Fitch is urging Premier Brian Gallant to make changes to his cabinet in the new year and he’s not surprised at word the size of the cabinet may be increased.

Fitch is continuing to press for the removal of Victor Boudreau from the cabinet because of his involvement in the Atcon debacle which cost provincial taxpayers big time. Fitch says no one has explained why the provincial government, under then Premier Shawn Graham, allowed the Bank of Nova Scotia to be put ahead of taxpayers among the creditors when Atcon went belly up.

He also says Cathy Rogers whould be removed from Social Development because she has lost credibility with seniors over what Fitch as called the asset grab.

Fitch says having Roger Melanson serving as Finance Minister as well as being responsible for Transportation and Infrastructure along with chairing the Board of Management hasn’t worked out well. Fitch says it’s not good when you have the Auditor-General casting doubt on the veracity of the government’s own numbers.
