Friday Morning Sports For March 3rd

In basketball at Harbour Station, the Saint John Riptide lost to Halifax 101-96…..Anthony Anderson scored 27 points for the Riptide with Haakim Johnson scoring 26.

Saint John Sea Dogs forward Matthew Highmore has been signed to a 3 year deal with the Chicago Blackhawks.

In the NHL, Paul Byron scored with nine seconds left to give Montreal a 2-1 win over Nashville on P-K Subban’s first game against the Canadiens since they traded him last summer……All the goals were scored in the third period as the New York Rangers got by Boston 2-1……Los Angeles got by Toronto in a shootout 3-2….The Kings tied the game in the third period with two goals 90 seconds apart…..In other play, it was Washington 1 New Jersey 0…..Columbus 1 Minnesota 0….Philadelphia 2 Florida 1 in a shootout….Buffalo 6 Arizona 3 and the Islanders over Dallas 5-4.

Both the boys and girls high school hockey teams from St. Malachy’s won the southern New Brunswick High School Hockey Championships. The boys defeated K-V-H-S and the girls downed Saint John High.

In the NBA, Golden State will be without Kevin Durant for at least 4 weeks because of a sprain and bone bruise on his left leg….The Warriors, without Durant, lost their second in a row, 94-87 to Chicago. In other play, it was Phoenix 120 Charlotte 103 and Portland 114 Oklahoma City 109.
