Provincial Green Party leader David Coon says the very first episode of CBC’s new television documentary series “Canada….The Story of Us” got it wrong.
Coon says the first European habitation was in Charlotte County on St. Croix Island and not, as the programme said, near Quebec City.
Coon also says there was a barely cursory nod to the hundreds of indigenous nations who had flourished before coming into contact with the Europeans.
He would like the provincial minister of Culture and Heritage to request a meeting with the president of the CBC and the federal Heritage minister to discuss the need to better reflect New Brunswick to Canadians.
