Hampton Eyes Regional Multipurpose Facility

Between $18 million and $20 million is needed to finance the Hampton Regional Multipurpose Facility, which would serve the town and local service districts.

They are hoping to get between $12 million and $14 million in support from the federal and provincial governments.

Al Walker is vice-chair of the facility committee and tells our newsroom it will include a library, community rooms and a large ice surface with seating.

“It can be used both as a skating rink and for other functions. Someone just asked if it will be built in time for next year’s or the year after’s graduation. There isn’t a facility large enough really in Hampton to accommodate a high school graduation ceremony,” Walker says.

Once the funding is in place, the facility will be built on town-owned land on William Bell Drive between Chapman’s ice cream and the trailer park.
