Hampton MLA “Doubtful” Education Plan Will Be Implemented This Fall

On Friday, the provincial government was presented with recommendations to help develop a 10-year education plan in the province.

Hampton MLA and former teacher Gary Crossman says he can’t see Education Minister Brian Kenny coming out with a plan in time for the next school year because of staffing and other issues.

Crossman says it’s been off for so long it’s hard to put it in place.

He says most of the decision making should be left to the grassroots. He says teachers know best, but they need proper support.

Two separate reports were presented to the provincial government from both the Anglophone and Francophone sectors.

Crossman says the education plan should be the same whether it’s french or english, regarding the same opportunities.

He says he was disappointed by the little amount of input given to skilled trades.
