TransCanada has given 120-thousand dollars to the Nature Conservancy of Canada to go towards their Miramichi Salmon Project located on the Bartholomew River, near Blackville.
Nature Conservancy of Canada spokesperson Andrew Holland says it’s the largest private land conservation project in New Brunswick history.
Holland says the salmon project is over 2100 acres, which includes 8 salmon pools.
He says TransCanada has been very supported of the Nature Conservancy of Canada, especially in western areas of the country like BC, Alberta and Saskatchewan.
It’s the first time TransCanada has supported the Nature Conservancy in a project based in Atlantic Canada.
The total cost of the project is $1.3 million.
