The issue of healthy food at school cafeterias has become a matter of controversy with the impending award of a contract to a service provider at Harbour View High.
Portland-Simonds M-L-A Trevor Holder says the students at Harbourview have their own garden and want that food to be included in their school cafeteria.
Provincial Education Minister Brian Kenny is giving assurances the use of local foods will be included even though Holder says he didn’t see any such stipulation in the request for proposals and would like to see the awarding of any contract slowed down until it is.
