The fire department’s Haz Mat unit called to the New Brunswick Southern Rail yard off Gifford Road on the west side.
City Police telling us during a routine examination of the contents of a container a strange and unknown white substance was found .
As a precaution, the scene was locked down for further investigation and the hazmat unit brought in.
It’s believed 5 people came in contact with the substance and are now in an isolation area being monitored.
An investigation is underway to determine what the powder is.
