High Water Impacts Many Including Darlings Island Residents and Ferry Users

The water is about 5 inches deep in the usual spot on the Darlings Island road after Saturday’s heavy rain.

The road has been closed since Saturday night.

Seniors, adults and kids are walking through it and the province has not offered a shuttle service this year to assist residents.

The water level is fluctuating a few inches either way with the tides.

On Sunday, water levels increased by two feet at the Evandale Ferry crossing.

The ferry was still operating but the docking area had to built up on either side with dirt to allow vehicles to get on and off safely.

One vehicle waited on the ferry for about 20 minutes while workers spread dirt before they could exit on the Kars side.
