Thousands of homes and businesses are without power after a nor’easter brought high winds to the region.
NB Power says more than 13,000 customers remain without electricity as of 5:30 p.m. Thursday.
The hardest-hit areas include the Kennebecasis Valley/Fundy region and southwestern New Brunswick.
In a tweet, the utility said crews are working as quickly and safely as possible to restore affected customers.
Saint John Energy said more than 100 of its customers are also without power.
Six schools in the Anglophone South School District were forced to close early Thursday due to power outages:
- Back Bay Elementary School in Back Bay
- Campobello Island Consolidated School in Wilsons Beach
- Lawrence Station Elementary School in Lawrence Station
- Sir James Dunn Academy in Saint Andrews
- St. Martins School in St. Martins
- Vincent Massey Elementary School in Saint Andrews

The weather has led to flight delays and cancellations at the Saint John and Fredericton airports, so you will want to check ahead before heading out.
The Grand Manan and Peninsula Princess ferries, which were suspended due to weather, have returned to service.
