Hiker Rescued From Mount Douglas

A hiker was rescued Sunday off Mount Douglas by Welsford Fire Crews and Ascent New Brunswick.

Just before 4 p.m., crews were called after reports a hiker fell and suffered head injuries.

Firefighters equipped with off road rescue gear trekked up the mountain.

The injured person was found near the summit with a head injury and a minor lower body injury.

A crew arrived with a litter mule and stokes basket working with Ascent New Brunswick.

The patient was packaged for the descent down the trail and paramedics were kept informed on the condition.

Crews spent just over two hours on the rescue with one firefighter being slightly hurt by an “angry branch” but he will be fine.
