An investigation is underway after an inmate was attacked at Dorchester Penitentiary this week.
The Correctional Service of Canada discovered an inmate had been the victim of an assault around 8 Wednesday morning.
The victim was assessed by prison staff, and then sent to an outside hospital for treatment.
CSC say they have identified the attacker and appropriate actions have been taken.
The local RCMP detachment and institution are continuing to investigate.
