The Port City is a wintry ghost town as a blizzard shuts down schools, malls and makes travel nearly impossible with as much as 50 centimetres of the white stuff expected by tomorrow when it wraps up.
City plows are still on the road in difficult conditions but Saint John police would like everyone to avoid all non-essential travel.

Linda Libby of Environment Canada says visibility will get worse as wind speeds increase.
She says the snow is expected to end overnight and after that there is still a chance of snow. The blowing snow will hang around as long as the strong winds persist. She says the winds gusting to 90 kilometres an hour will eventually dimish to 70 kilometers an hour.
It’s also an ugly day south of the border, Maine State Police are warning people that the roads are treacherous with poor visibility and dozens of vehicles off the road.
Gateway Operations has pulled plows on the highway between Riverglade and St. Stephen.
