Kings County Fire Claims Two Lives

A house fire in rural Kings County has claimed the lives of two people.

Fire crews were called to Upper Midland Road in Midland, near Norton, around 2:20 a.m. Friday.

Bruce Sherwood, chief of the Belleisle Valley Fire Department, confirmed the fatalities.

Sherwood said the fire was under control in about an hour but crews remained on scene until mid-afternoon Friday.

He said the Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause of the blaze. No other details have been released.
