LIVE COVERAGE: Day Two Of NEB Hearings Into Energy East Pipeline

Follow along for live coverage from the floor of the NEB’s (National Energy Board) hearings on the Energy East Pipeline.

David Duplisea of The Saint John Regional Chamber of Commerce addressed the NEB this morning speaking about the economics of pipeline saying the spin-offs are important to our region.

Duplisea mentions the $300 million dollar marine terminal that would built by TransCanada and Irving Oil saying the operations phase would see 90 jobs created.

Colin Seeley owns a home right on the Bay of Fundy and tells the NEB that a project the size of Energy East presents many risks to our water and air quality and with the tank farm you’ll see excessive fuming.

Seeley asked Trans Canada how they plan to clean up a major spill that exceeds your liability to which the company said Energy East has absolute liability in an emergency.
