Chief Sales Officer Jeff Guthrie says people like to gather together with family and friends while watching coverage on TV, “Based on spending trends observed during similar events, we looked at the all of the spending during that period, and we predict there will be a 15 per cent increase in spending at bars and restaurants.”
The Canadian debit and credit processor says if you look back to the 2012 Games…Canadians watched 662 million hours of television…or about 21 hours per Canadian.
Guthrie says, “Canadians love to gather with other Canadians to cheer on our athletes, so I think there is an excitement about sitting with your friends and family, while enjoying a cold beer and watching sports.”
