Saint John-Rothesay MP Wayne Long does politics a little differently.
He wears colourful shirts not your typical suit and you can generally keep tabs on him through his posts on Twitter and Facebook.
In a year end interview with Acadia News, we asked Wayne Long what a day in the life of a Member of Parliament looks like.
He tells he normally flies up on Sunday night or Monday morning and a normal day can be 12 to 14 hours.
Long tells us it’s a lot different in the House of Commons when the cameras are off.
He says people think MP’s from opposing parties are fighting all the time and he says it’s not like that at all.
Long says he has seen Question Period wrap up and Conservative Leader Andrew Sheer will chat with Beausejour MP Dominic Leblanc about their families and what’s going on in their ridings.
Long tells us there are three or four buildings where MP’s live when in Ottawa and he lives in one with about 50 to 60 other members of parliament including Fredericton’s T.J. Harvey and Manitoba’s Candice Bergen.
