The future of 7 schools in Saint John is up in the air because of declining enrollments and aging buildings.
Portland-Simonds M-L-A Trevor Holder doesn’t dispute the need for change but he questions what the rush is when so many people feel they weren’t consulted when the Ernst and Young report was compiled.
Holder says that report is based on guidelines from the school district and not the community at large.
The Anglophone South Education Council is scheduled to give a presentation to Common Council tonight.
The decisions, expected in March or April, on which schools survive and which close won’t go into effect for five years.
