Man arrested for impaired driving after Saint John crash

One person has been arrested for impaired driving after police say a speeding truck crashed into a guardrail in Saint John.

Police said the crash happened on Route 1 eastbound at the Rothesay Avenue exit shortly after midnight on Saturday night.

“One person was observed running from the truck towards Rothesay Avenue wearing a red plaid jacket,” police said in a news release.

K9 was called in to search for the suspect, who was arrested at a nearby residence.

A 28-year-old man was taken to the hospital and later released from custody with a future court date.

Police said the truck and the guardrail suffered extensive damage as a result of the crash.

Anyone who may have witnessed the crash or has dashcam footage is asked to contact the Saint John Police Force at 506-648-3333 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
