UPDATED: Man Charged In St. Stephen Woman’s Death

A man has been charged with second-degree murder in the death of a St. Stephen woman on Christmas Eve.

Police say Irving Hastey of Little Ridge appeared in Saint John provincial court on Thursday afternoon.

The 55-year-old has been remanded into custody until his next court appearance on Jan. 14.

Mounties say they were called to a home on Schoodic Street shortly after 11:10 a.m. Monday for a report of a dispute.

They say a woman, who has since been identified as 52-year-old Crystal Tracey, was found dead.

Police say a man was taken to hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries and was arrested after being released on Wednesday.
