Marissa Shephard First Degree Murder Conviction Overturned

A new trial is being ordered after the murder and arson convictions of Marissa Shephard were overturned today.

The decision was handed down in the New Brunswick court of Appeal on Thursday morning.

Shephard was found guilty of first degree murder and arson last year, in the 2015 death of 18 year old Baylee Wylie.

She was sentenced to life in prison with no chance of parole for 25 years.

Devin Morningstar was also convicted of first degree murder and arson in the same incident.

Tyler Noel pleaded guilty to second degree murder. He was sentenced to life in prison with no chance of parole for 16 years.
