Metro Moncton Man Cycling To Find Cure For Diabetes

Cycling over 200 kilometres in one day isn’t easy, but a local man won’t let that stop him.

Mike Leblanc is raising money to find a cure for type 1 diabetes.

His daughter Adele, was diagnosed in 2002. He says, “If her blood sugar is high, she has to give herself insulin. If it is low, then she needs to take in sugar, so it’s a major balancing act. It has been hard, and it is a 24/7, 365 day a year condition.”

Leblanc says he promised himself that he would do everything he could to raise funds to find a cure.

He created Mike’s Bike Shop Cyclebetes in 2008, and he expects 80 to 100 riders to join him on September 12th.

The goal this year is to raise $25, 000. Last year, they surpassed that with $27, 000.
