Minister Says We Need To Free Up Money So We Can Pay For What Is Needed

Over a year of work being put into the Strategic Program Review, and tomorrow (Tuesday) we find out the results.

Minister responsible for Opportunities NB, and also the MLA for Fundy-The Isles-Saint John West, Rick Doucet, says with the budget coming down soon, we need to turn a page, “The previous government talked about how terrible things were for four years, but they didn’t do a thing about it. We are at a crossroads. We’re paying $685 million a year just in interest payments.”

He tells us, “…we really have to get ourselves to that point where we can free up money to spend on our priorities.”

Doucet says healthcare, education, and helping families is a very important part of the process.

He adds, however, we can’t lose sight of the fact job creation is the number one priority, because we need people paying taxes, and into the economy, so the government can do the things that are needed.
