Monday Morning Sports For February 2nd

The Super Bowl turned into a classic as New England rallied in the 4th quarter for a 28-24 win over Seattle. Patriots quarterback Tom Brady, who threw 4 touchdown passes, was named the game’s Most Valuable Player. The Patriots clinched their win with a late fourth quarter interception by Malcolm Butler on their goal line which raised questions why the Seahawks didn’t try to punch it in from the one yard line with running back Marshawn Lynch.

In the NHL, Arizona rallied from 2 goals down to edge Montreal 3-2……Carter Hutton made 21 saves as Nashville blanks Pittsburgh 4-0……Vancouver lost to Minnesota 4-2 and St. Louis got by Washington 4-3.

Jeremy Mallais of Thistle St. Andrews won the provincial men’s curling championship, defeating James Grattan, also of T-S-A. Mallais, originally from Moncton, will represent New Brunswick at the Tankard.

Sylvie Robichaud of Moncton won the provincial women’s curling championship to advance to the Scotties Tournament of Hearts.

In the NBA, it was Miami over Boston 83-75 and the New York Knicks downed the L-A Lakers 90-82.
