Monday Morning Sports For January 23rd

In the NFL, it’ll be New England against Atlanta for the Super Bowl……Patriots quarterback Tom Brady threw for 3 touchdowns and 342 yards in a 36-17 win over Pittsburgh…..The Patriots will be going to their 9th Super Bowl.

Atlanta quarterback Matt Ryan, who played college football in Boston, passed for 4 touchdowns and almost 400 yards in a 44-21 rout of Green Bay. The Falcons were leading 24-0 by halftime.

In the NHL, Conor Sheary scored two goals while Sidney Crosby got his league leading 28th as Pittsburgh won its fourth in a row, 5-1 over the Boston Bruins……The New York Rangers blanked Detroit in overtime 1-0 with Henrik Lundqvist picking up the shutout….Jonathon Toews scored the tiebreaking goal with 1:18 remaining in Chicago’s 4-2 win over Vancouver….Elsewhere, it was Columbus 7 Ottawa 6 in overtime…..Philadelphia over the Islanders in overtime 3-2 and Nashville 4 Minnesota 2.

Kansas City Royals pitcher Yordano Ventura has died in a car crash in the Dominican Republic at the age of 25.

New Brunswick, skipped by Samantha Crook of Oromocto, opened the Canadian Women’s Junior Curling Championship with two wins.

Eric Bledsoe scored a career-high 40 points and had 13 assists and the Phoenix Suns handed the Toronto Raptors their third straight loss, 115-103. In other play, it was Golden State 118 Orlando 98….Dallas 122 Los Angeles Lakers 73 and Minnesota 111 Denver 108.
