Monday Morning Sports For June 26th

In the Majors, the New York Yankees rallied from a 6-0 deficit but fell short, losing to the Texas Rangers 7-6. The Yankees have lost 10 of their past 12 games……The Los Angeles Angels scored three runs after their challenge overturned an inning ending double play in the second inning for a 4-2 win over the Boston Red Sox. Mitch Moreland and Jackie Bradley Jr. each hit solo homers for the Red Sox who are tied with the Yankees for first in the A-L East….. Roberto Osuna struck out three in a scoreless ninth inning just a day after saying he was dealing with anxiety issues and the Toronto Blue Jays avoided a sweep with an 8-2 win over Kansas City.

The Los Angeles Dodgers won their 10th straight, 12-6 over Colorado, coming back from a 5-0 deficit. The Dodgers scored 5 runs on 4 wild pitches in the last two innings. Cody Bellinger hit two more home runs to give him 24 for the season. The Dodgers lead the N-L West by 2 and a half games over Arizona with Colorado 4 and a half back.

In New Brunswick Senior Baseball, the Saint John Alpines shut out the Chatham Ironmen 2-0 in the second game of a doubleheader behind the pitching of starter Shaun O’Toole and closer Matt Mason. The Ironmen took the opener 3-2. The Alpines lead the league with a record of 8 and 5.

Saint John Sea Dogs forward Cedric Pare was selected by the Boston Bruins in the sixth round of the 2017 NHL Draft.
