Monday Morning Sports For September 28th

In the Majors, Josh Donaldson hit his 41st home run of the season with two outs in the bottom of the ninth to give the Blue Jays a 5-4 win over Tampa Bay…….The Yankees kept pace with a 6-1 win over the Chicago White Sox…..The Jays lead the Yankees by 4 games in the American League East.

In the National League, Jonathon Papelbon and Bryce Harper of the Washington Nationals got into a fight in the dugout with Papelbon grabbing him by the throat…..Jake Arrieta threw a one hitter for his 21st win of the season and hit a homer as the Cubs blank Pittsburgh 4-0. Pittsburgh trails St. Louis by 3 games in the Central Division with the Pirates and Cardinals starting a big three game series tonight.

In the NFL, the New England Patriots trounced Jacksonville 51-17 with Tom Brady throwing 2 touchdown passes…..Pittsburgh downed St. Louis 12-6 but lost quarterback Ben Roethlisberger for 4 to 6 weeks with a knee injury…..The Dallas Cowboys, without quarterback Tony Romo, lost for the first time this season to Atlanta 39-28. Last night, Denver won over Detroit 24-12.

In the CFL, Saskatchewan beat Montreal 33-21 for only their second win of the season.

In the “Q”, Nicolas Blanchard scored with 5:01 remaining in the third period to give the Acadie-Bathurst Titan a 4-3 come-from-behind victory over the Sea Dogs while the Moncton Wildcats took over sole possession of first place in the Maritime Division with a 6-3 win over the Charlottetown Islanders.
