More Competition Needed In Wireless Industry

The Competition Bureau says more competition in the wireless industry could drive down prices.

In a submission to the Canadian Radio-Television and Telecommunication Commission, the Bureau finds wireless plans to be consistently most expensive in areas where little competition exists.

It found prices 80 per cent higher than in areas where users have some choice.

The CRTC is currently reviewing whether to allow more carriers into the marketplace.
