It’s a proud moment for the Nature Conservancy of Canada. The conservation group was selected by The Financial Post and MoneySense Magazine as their top environmental charity. Overall, they were in the top 25 and the top 100 charities in Canada respectively. Program Manager Craig Smith says they received ‘A’ grades for things like efficiency and transparency. He says, “That means we’re functioning at the top level of our game and it’s nice to take a moment and pat ourselves on the back and say job well done but like I said before it”s an ongoing task and we are going to continue to pay attention to it.” Smith says the recognition sets them apart from other environmental organizations. He says they are constantly working to improve operations and conserve land throughout the Maritimes. There are 86,000 registered charities in Canada.
