As part of Storm Preparedness Week, NB Power crews, Saint John Energy and the Fredericton Fire Department demonstrated why it’s vital to wait for power line crews before approaching downed lines – even in an emergency.
Crews simulated a car crash into a power pole and a damaged tree on a power line – showing how they make an accident scene safe and remove trees from lines.
If you see a downed line, report it to NB Power and treat all lines as if they were live. If your vehicle comes into contact with a power line, stay where you are because it may be dangerous to exit from the vehicle.
