NBTA Warns Parents Will See Effects Of Teachers Cuts

The New Brunswick Teachers Association is concerned about the impact that teachers cuts are going to have on education in the province.

President Guy Arseneault says parents will notice the loss when students return to school next month.

He says there will be more combined classes, fewer course options and fewer courses in some schools.

Arsenault feels the high needs and high expectations will not be me in the classroom, because they do not have a full complement of teachers, and the individualized learning by students is going to be impacted greatly.

He notes the government said previously that education is a top priority, but cutting 249 teachers is not the way you should treat a top priority.
