The NDP candidate who’s running in Saint John Harbour believes he has a good shot at winning the riding as he opens up his campaign office on Charlotte Street, just a stone’s throw from Union Street.
Gary Stackhouse tells CHSJ News the incumbant Conservative Carl Killen has toed the party line as did his predecessor, Dr. Ed Doherty under then Premier Shawn Graham and people have taken note. They’re tired of M-L-A’s doing what the party tells them at the expense of the riding.
He maintains the last time the riding had a strong voice in Fredericton was when the M-L-A was then provincial NDP leader Elizabeth Weir.
As for the big issue in the campaign, Stackhouse says it has to be the state of the provincial economy.
