New Addition To The Sea Dogs

The Saint John Sea Dogs will have a new addition when they hit the ice after their Christmas break.

Saint John acquired forward Alex Drover from the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles during a weekend trade.

In exchange, Cape Breton received defenceman Nathan Larose and a 2020 third-round pick.

Drover, 16, tallied three goals and eight assists in 26 games for Cape Breton during his rookie season.

In a statement, Sea Dogs president and general manager Trevor Georgie said Drover is a goal scorer with lots of offensive upside and will be a nice compliment to the young core they already have.

“He is another young player who will develop and grow with our rookie class as we continue to put the pieces together for a future Memorial Cup team,” Georgie said.

The Sea Dogs now have seven of the top 30 prospects from the 2018 Quebec Major Junior Hockey League Draft Rankings, including William Villeneuve, Jeremie Poirier, Josh Lawrence, Brady Burns, Charlie DesRoches and Dawson Stairs.
