New Hi-Tech Buoy To Be Installed Off Coast Of Partridge Island

A new, hi-tech buoy will be moored 3 miles off the coast of Partridge Island.

The so-called Smart Buoy will track weather, wind, and wave conditions and make them available online, which will reduce the risk to big oil tankers and little fishing vessels alike. MP Rodney Weston, port officials, and Captain Andrew Rae were on hand to announce the Canadian piece of equipment.. Weston tells CHSJ News he didn’t need any convincing on the usefulness of the project, and it was just a matter of getting the right partners on board.

The buoy weights 1.5 f tonnes and is specifically designed to withstand hurricane-force conditions.
