Three Towns Approve Plan To Increase Deer Harvest

The Mayor of Rothesay has announced his town, as well as Hampton and the KV, will go ahead with a plan to reduce its booming deer population by awarding additional hunting licenses to approved hunters.

Bill Bishop tells CHSJ News hunters–whether they wish to use guns or bows.–will get permission from landowners to hunt extra deer on their land. The plan, which was hatched by the DNR, hasn’t been without its detractors but Bishop says it was clear something had to be done to address the problem.

First, the hunter will have to get a regular license, then apply for an extra tag. The details will be posting online before the start of hunting season.
