New Signage On Route 1 Aims To Bring Exposure To Local Businesses

You may notice some new signage along Route 1 come spring time.

Tourism, Heritage and Culture Minister John Ames, along with Aquaculture and Fisheries Minister Rick Doucet and Transportation and Infrastructure Minister Bill Fraser, announcing a new pilot project in Charlotte County by the provincial government, aimed at local businesses that have food, fuel, and accommodations.

“The pilot project is aimed at giving opportunities to businesses to put a logo on some signs for highway ramps, so that when there are, for instance, tourists coming in from outside of the jurisdiction, they can see that there will be a place to stay or a place to eat, and they can be prompted to take that particular ramp.”

He says the new signage will aim to bring more exposure to businesses in Charlotte County, with the signage being put up from St. Stephen to St. George.
Ames tells us, “As far as the cost and maintenance [of the signs] that’s something that’s going to be worked out with the Department of Transportation and Infrastructure as well as my department to try and boost exposure.”

Ames says the government will be starting work very soon on the project, and he expects the new signage to be in place by spring at the latest, well before the next tourism season.
