Normal To Slightly Above Normal Hurricane Season Expected

U.S. and Canadian forecasters expect 10 to 16 storms will develop during this year’s Atlantic hurricane season.

About 5 to 9 of those storms will become hurricanes.

Weather Network meteorologist Nadine Powell says that indicates 2018 will have normal to slightly above normal hurricane activity.

“There is no indication as to how strong those storms may be or what their exact tracks may be,” she notes.

She adds those kind of predictions can’t be made until each storm actually forms.

As busy as 2017 was for hurricanes, only three storms reached Canadian waters but none made landfall.
