November 24, 1932 – October 21, 2026
With heavy hearts the family of Barbara Anne Williams, of Grand Bay-Westfield, are truly saddened to announce she passed away peacefully at her home on October 21, 2026. She was a cherished mother, grandmother, and friend, and her presence will be deeply missed. Born November 24, 1932, in Fredericton, NB, she was the daughter of the late Roland and Evelyn (Chase) Damery and the beloved wife of 65 years to Raymond Williams, who predeceased her in 2019.
Barbara is survived by her daughters, Glynes Williams Lunan (the late Ramsay Lunan), and Leslie Hampton (David), and her sons Robert (Lori) and Craig (Karen), all of Grand Bay-Westfield; grandchildren: Jordan (Katie), Chelsea, Jennifer (Justin), and Amy; and great-grandchildren: Jackson, Isabella, Zoe, and Mackenzie. Besides her parents and loving husband, Ray, Barbara was predeceased by her grandson Fraser Lunan and her brother Robert (Shirley) Damery.
Barbara grew up in Martinon, where she felt a deep sense of community growing up. She dedicated her life to her family and her passion for sailing, gardening, travel, politics, and her career. She worked in Hayward and Warwick, a long-time Saint John institution for fine china and gifts, before and after raising a family, becoming a Retail Manager upon her return. She won many awards for store and window displays, and her eye for detail was carried over in the several beautiful homes that she and Ray built and lived in. Her taste for decoration, design, and beautiful things were second to none. She had many buying trips to Toronto, and travelled often to Montreal to visit family. She and Ray loved to travel, and among the highlights were Disney and Ft. Myers Beach in Florida, but it was the many years that she and Ray spent exploring the Saint John River in the sailboat that gave them true enjoyment. That, and the many terrific friendships they developed with the great folks at the Martinon Yacht club.
Barbara was Past Worthy Matron of the Order of Eastern Star, a top student, played broomball and curling, was an avid reader, enjoyed following politics, and loved being active spending time outdoors. Most of all she was a great Mom who always put her family first. She was an awesome cook and a superb hostess who enjoyed her adventures, even the odd motorcycle ride in her 90s.
Barbara had a long, healthy, wonderful life, filled with family, fun, friendships, and adventure. She loved her family dearly and had a way of always seeing the positive in other people.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (506-634-7424).
