It is with great sadness that the family of Brian Wayne Smith announces his passing which occurred at Bobby’s Hospice on Monday, April 27, 2026. Born in Saint John, NB, on November 4, 1955, he was a son of the late Hazen and Joan (Wilson) Smith.
Brian retired from Acuren after many years of dedicated service. At the age of 10, he spent three years living in Germany, where he had the opportunity to meet Gordie Howe and Maurice ‘Rocket’ Richard. In his younger years, Brian enjoyed playing hockey and remained a lifelong sports fan, proudly cheering on the Montreal Canadiens and Toronto Blue Jays. He enjoyed travelling to races and sporting events, loved watching movies, and cherished spending time with friends at Fish and Brew.
Brian leaves behind his children, Bradley Smith, Jason Comeau, Michelle Comeau, Jamie Comeau; grandchildren, Dylan Comeau, Lilly Comeau, Jase Richard; sister, Joanne (Smith) Curbishley (Robert); nieces, Amanda and Michelle Curbishley; as well as his pets, Captain “Cappy”, Chase and Barkley. In addition to his parents, Brian was predeceased his wife, Beth (Chisolm) Comeau, and his brother, David Smith.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB, (506-634-7424). With visitation on Thursday, April 30, 2026, from 6:00 – 8:00 PM. A Funeral Service will be held from the Brenan’s Chapel on Friday, May 1, 2026, at 12:00 PM with reception to follow. Interment will take place in Maces Bay Cemetery. Donations in memory of Brian may be made to Bobby’s Hospice.
