February 19, 1937 – September 5, 2026
Edward ‘Ted’ Francis Wall passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 5, 2026 while surrounded by the love and support of his wife and children. Ted was born on February 19, 1937 in Saint John, NB to the late Walter and Catherine (Morrison) Wall.
Ted will be dearly missed by his wife of 65 years, Marilyn (Kierstead), their children; Michael Wall (Lorie), Lori Wall, Marty Hunt (Terry), and Casey Wall (Cathy), brother David Wall (Susan), grandchildren; Alicia (Carlin), Amanda (Owen), Christopher (Melanie), Nicholas (Chelsea), Michaela, Caitilin (Brad) and Christen, great grandchildren; Noah, Claire, Gavin, Avery, Ivy, Griffin, and Mya, and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents Ted was predeceased by his siblings; Betty Thibodeau and Walter ‘Wally’ Wall, mother-in-law Eleanor Kierstead, father-in-law Allen Kierstead, and brothers-in-law; Robert and Douglas Kierstead.
Growing up on Middle Street in Saint John, Ted’s industrious spirit was evident early on. He began his career as a meat cutter at the City Market with his uncle Joe before joining the Dominion Store, where he eventually served as Meat Manager. Following his retirement from Dominion, he opened Ted’s Variety on Purdy’s Corner. Even after selling the store, Ted remained active, working as a courier for Universal Sales and later returning to his roots as a meat cutter at the Co-Op. Known for his inability to sit still, Ted found genuine fulfillment in his work and never fully embraced a quiet retirement.
The one place Ted allowed himself to truly relax was at the family cottage at New River Beach. He loved being by the water, and the beach served as the backdrop for many of the family’s most cherished memories.
Ted’s greatest legacy began 66 years ago on a blind date at the movies, arranged by their friends Frank and Joyce, where he met the love of his life, Marilyn. Together, they built a beautiful and full life. Their nightly ritual included a game of Phase 10, often accompanied by his favorite snacks, Crunchits and a Coca-Cola.
Ted enjoyed playing card games, passing this onto his children, he taught each of them how to play crib, instilling math skills in them at an early age. He was an active community member who enjoyed the camaraderie of darts, bowling, and horseshoe tournaments. He was a dedicated member of the Scottish Rite and the Shriners and served with pride as the Most Worshipful Master of Masonic Temple 22. A talented tenor, Ted shared his love of music as a member of a barbershop quartet, the Men of Fundy, and the Lancaster Baptist Ambassadors Men’s choir for many years.
