September 16, 1944 – March 14, 2026
Floyd Sterling Hoben passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 14, 2026 after a brief battle with illness. Floyd was born on September 16, 1944 in Fredericton, NB to the late Reuben and Alma (Campbell) Hoben.
Floyd worked at the Coca Cola plant for 16 years where he met his loving wife Ann (Maxwell) before moving onto Baxter Dairy where he worked for 30 years. After retirement, Floyd spent much of his time volunteering with the Westside Food Bank, he was a dedicated volunteer and took his responsibilities seriously.
Floyd was a talented mechanic, proudly refinishing many cars and tractors over the years. He was also a decent carpenter; he built his family home on the Gault Road, and assisted with the construction of his children’s properties. Floyd loved animals, especially dogs; he was known to make his grand puppy Millie his favourite bacon and eggs.
Floyd was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He visited his wife Ann everyday at Saint Joe’s and then at the Shannex.
Floyd will be dearly missed by his wife of 60 years, Ann Hoben, their children; Sterling (Claudette) Hoben and Pamela Hoben, sisters Valerie Medford (Chris), and Lenta Hoben, grandchildren; Jacob Hoben (Brynn), Sidney Hoben, and Ashley Hoben (Luc), great grandson Eli Floyd Hoben, several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his parents Floyd was predeceased by his brother Merle Hoben, sister-in-law Jane Hoben, and special mention to his ‘second parents’ Edgar and Helen Dean.
Arrangements are under the care of Castle Fallsview Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Ave, Saint John, NB, E2M 2L3, 506-634-1701. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 17th from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM. A Memorial Service will take place on Wednesday, March 18th at 11:00 AM in Castle Fallsview Chapel. Interment will be held at a later date.
