Helen Doreen Case

March 23, 1928  –  November 30, 2025

It is with broken hearts we announce the passing of not only our Mom, but our Best Friend, Helen Doreen Case (Sis) at her home on Sunday, November 30th, 2025, at the age of 97 years.

Her big heart touched the lives of many, and her presence lit up any room she entered. Family meant the world to Mom. Her endless family celebrations at her home, Christmas being her favorite, where her pies and ham were to die for. Endless gatherings at her bar listening to Patsy Cline sharing her favorite drink of Crown Royal.

Family was the center of Mom’s world. She poured her heart into her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren. She loved them endlessly and found her greatest joy in their accomplishments, their laughter, and their stories. Her cottage on the Washedmoak Lake was one of the biggest joys in life. Here is where she spent countless weekends sharing stories and creating memories that will forever be cherished. It was there that she taught her grandchildren and great-grandchildren how to swim, dive, shoot a bow and arrow, play checkers, but most of all, each of them learned how to play her favorite card games, one being Crib. They knew better not to show up without their quarters. Those lessons filled with patience and humor will live on as treasured traditions and memories. Mom loved a good card game and never passed up a chance to gather around a table with family or friends, letting her competitive spirits shine. She had a talent for turning simple moments into lasting memories, often with a smile, quick wit or a shoulder to lean on that could lift any mood. To know Mom was to know love. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, strength, wisdom and love that will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing her.

For many years, Helen worked at J+A McMillan as a bookkeeper, where she formed lifelong friendships and became a valued and respected member of the team. Her dedication and work ethic reflected her character—steady, loyal, and always ready to lend a helping hand. She was a lifelong member of the Ladies Auxiliary Legion Branch 14.

After the passing of her beloved husband Ernest, she opened “Helen’s Place”, a warm and welcoming refuge for families supporting loved ones in the hospital. There, she offered not only a place to stay but also her companionship, breakfast, and the comfort of friendly conversation. Whether sharing a drink, lending an ear, or simply being present, Helen created a haven of kindness and care for all who walked through her doors.

Mom will be lovingly remembered by her three loves, Mike Case (Arlene) , Stephen Case (Ann) and Nancy Case-Doyle (Tom), her treasured grandchildren, Kathy (Jade), Susan (Mark), Peter (Ronda), Jamee (Ian), Allison, Jena (Rob), Elizabeth (Francis), and Jeremy, her beloved great-grandchildren, Andrew, Nick, Michael, Kyle, Christopher, Taylor, Jenna, Rory and Ciaran, her adored great great-grandchildren, Levi and Jett as well as several cousins, nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her loving husband, Ernest Case and her parents John and Genevieve Poulos, her brothers, Arthur, William (Sonny), John and her sister Joan.

Mom will be deeply missed and forever remembered by her family, her friends, and all whose lives she touched. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the Extra Mural team, Nicole, Leanna, Victoria and Bonnie for their exceptional care of Mom.

We would also like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Mom’s two “adopted daughters”, Kim Brown and Pam Webster for all their love and companionship over the years.
