Leslie Earl Greer

July 10, 1936  –  April 28, 2026

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Leslie Earl Greer at the Saint John Regional Hospital on April 28, 2026 surrounded by family. Born in Hampton, on July 10, 1936, to Philip and Annie (Fullerton) Greer. He resided in Saint John at the time of his passing.

After attending United Baptist Bible Training School and Barrington College, Les graduated from Toronto Bible College in 1965. That

same year he was married to Norma Kierstead and together they were accepted as missionaries with Sudan Interior Mission. He served as a Christian Religious Knowledge Teacher from 1967-1980 in various government schools in Nigeria. He also taught Industrial Arts from 1981-1982 at Hillcrest School, in Jos, Nigeria. From 1982-1984, he attended the University of New Brunswick, obtaining a Bachelor of Education in 1984. In 1985, Les was ordained as a minister in the Baptist Convention of the Atlantic Provinces. Since then, he served as interim and part-time pastor, as well as a substitute teacher in New Brunswick, until his retirement in 2004.

He was predeceased by his brothers, Winston, Jack and Larry and his sister, Phyllis. He has one son, Milton Greer, married to Lisa (Munn) as well as three grandchildren living in Edmonton, Alberta. He has one daughter, Felicia Gomez, married to Scott Smith living in La Ventana, Baja Sur Mexico and two grandchildren living in California.

The family would like to thank the Saint John Regional Hospital Oncology Department, Drs. Thompson, Aker and Corscadden along with his home care workers from Home Care by Design. He loved playing Skip Bo and enjoyed showing caregivers how to bake muffins and cookies. He will be remembered for his “dad” jokes, his unconditional love

for his family, antique cars and puzzles.

A private burial will take place at a later date. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (506-634-7424).
