October 30, 1938 – February 23, 2026
Leslie Marion White was born on October 30, 1938, in Grande Prairie, Alberta. He lived a full and remarkable life defined by intelligence, curiosity, capability, and deep devotion to his family.
Les is survived by his beloved wife and loving partner of over 60 years, Phyllis Joyce (Pawlinsky) White. Together they built a life rich in work, adventure, and enduring love. He is lovingly remembered by his daughter Shawna and son-in-law Styve Dumouchel; his granddaughter, Danielle, grandson, Pierre and his wife Caroline; as well as his cherished great-granddaughter Camille. He is also survived by his son Guy White and daughter-in-law Susan, and grandsons Quinn and Spencer. He was predeceased by his granddaughter Rhiannon White; his parents, Marion White and Grace (Johnson); and his brothers Ron, George, and Dale.
Les was an intelligent and capable man with a remarkable variety of interests and abilities. He was a mechanical engineer, pilot, builder, businessman, farmer, and woodworker; a man who could both envision and create. Whatever the endeavour, his wife and children were often included in both the work and the adventures, building not just projects, but memories.
As he aged, Les met memory loss with humour and grace, maintaining the quick wit and gentle spirit that endeared him to so many. After spending most of his life in Alberta, he and Joyce embraced the opportunity to spend their later years in New Brunswick. There, family, new friends, and caregivers were charmed by his kindness, his thoughtful nature, and above all, his deep love for Joyce.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to everyone whose daily work contributed to Les’s comfort and dignity. The Dr. V. A. Snow Centre became his final home, where he and Joyce shared a room overlooking a garden. The care he received throughout Saint John Regional Hospital was thorough, compassionate, and deeply appreciated.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, New Brunswick, (506 634–7424). A celebration of life, in memory of Les, will be announced at a later date.
