Richard Malcolm Philip Hosford

June 16, 1958  –  December 27, 2025

It is with great sadness that the family of Rick (Hosimoto) Hosford announces his sudden passing on December 27, 2025. Rick was born on June 16, 1958, in Saint John, New Brunswick. He was predeceased by his parents, Kathleen (Martin) Hosford and Bliss Hosford, as well as his sister, Wendy Hosford.

He will be deeply missed by his beloved wife of 50 cherished years, Mary (Walker) Hosford; his children, Brenda Morrell (Adam), Joanie Hosford (Matt) and Ricky Hosford (Jenn); his grandchildren, Kate (Colby), Lexi (Douglas), Haleigh, Darien, Savannah, Ryan, Layla and Lilly; his great-grandchildren, Hazel, Hudson and Hooper; his several nieces, nephews and cousins and his beloved furry companion, Toothless.

Rick is also survived by his sisters, Sandra (John), Pam (John), Sharon, Kathy and Lori (Arden) and his brother, Gary (Francine) who will all miss him dearly.

In his younger years, when he was not spending time with his family, Rick could often be found at Hammond River Raceway, in a pool hall, playing darts or enjoying music. Later in life, he took great pleasure in playing TV bingo, watching his favourite hockey team, the Montreal Canadiens, as well as proudly following his favourite players—first his son and later his grandson—and cheering along with his favourite game shows.

In his most recent years, Rick found his greatest comfort at home, surrounded by family and his beloved cat. He especially enjoyed feeding the blue jays from his back deck and watching his great-grandchildren play with his collection of cars. Known as the “high” stakes roller during family card nights, Rick was unbeatable—you could never outbid him in Rummoli and he was famous for his poker face. He had a sweet tooth like no other and was rarely seen without a handful of candy close by.

He supported his family through many years of hard work, including driving transport trucks and working as a salesman, before eventually retiring from Scotia Insulation.

Above all else, Rick was a devoted and loving Husband, Dad, Grampy, and Gpa.

Arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (506-634-7424) where visitation will take place on Friday, January 2, 2026 from 11:00 AM – 3:00 PM. In keeping with Rick’s wishes, there will be no funeral service.

For those who wish, donations may be made to the IWK Foundation.
