Rose Anna Thomas

December 6, 1941  –  April 16, 2026

The family is saddened to announce the passing of Rose Anna Thomas on Thursday, April 16, 2026 at Rocmaura Nursing Home. Born on December 6, 1941 in Bretagneville, NB, she was the daughter of the late Jose and Elinore Comeau.

At the age of two, Rose Anna was adopted by Albert and Elinore Vautour from St. Ignace, NB. She attended Teachers College in Fredericton, where she graduated with honours. Upon earning her teacher’s licence, she taught in a little red schoolhouse in Rogersville. Rose Anna spent many years at home raising her children. She worked at NB Tel, where she retired as a bilingual phone operator. She always put family first. She was a wonderful cook and always enjoyed sharing with family. The passion for food was passed along to her son. She also enjoyed tole painting, her house plants and feeding the neighbourhood cats.

Rose Anna is survived by her son, Joel Thomas (Pamela) and daughter, Jolene Thomas; grandchildren, Cassandra Thomas, Jarrod Thomas, Madison Chaisson and Jacob Chaisson; great-grandson, Simon Grant; sisters, Rosella and Odelia; as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Richard Thomas and several brothers and sisters.

The family would like to thank the staff at Rocmaura Nursing Home who passionately took care of Rose Anna since May 2020.

There will be no visitation or funeral service. Interment will take place at a later date in Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (506-634-7424).
