It is with great sadness the family announces the unexpected passing of Roy Robert Greer on Monday May 18, 2026, at the Saint John Regional Hospital. He was born in Werl, Germany on November 18, 1955 and moved to Canada in 1956.
Roy was employed with Marine Atlantic / Bay Ferries for 30+ years and retired at the end of December 2025. During those years he worked as an engineer on The Cat and MV Fundy Rose and in different countries. Before that, he was a red seal mechanic for various companies.
He loved working on the ferries and fixing up cars and electronics. Anything that needed fixing, he could fix it for you. He was generous and helpful to everyone he met. Always available to help when someone called.
Roy is survived by his daughters; Melissa (Joshua) Nunn, Virginia Greer and Robin Greer (Joshua Kenny); and three grandchildren: John, Sophia and Henry Nunn.
Arrangements are under the care of Castle Fallsview Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Avenue, Saint John, NB, 506-634-1701. Visitation will be held on Friday, June 5 from 5:00 PM-8:00 PM. There will be no funeral. In lieu of flowers donations in Roy’s memory can be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
