Sheldon Ernest Phillips

August 28, 1953 ~ January 9, 2026 (age 72)

 It is with very heavy hearts that the family announces the passing of Sheldon E Phillips surrounded by his family on January 9th, 2026, after a courageous battle with Cancer at Bobby’s Hospice.  Born in Moncton, NB in August 1953, Sheldon was the oldest son of the late Ray and Gertude Phillips (Clark) of Sussex, N.B.  Sheldon was a reservist of the 8th Canadian Hussars in Sussex for 5 years.

 Sheldon then moved to Saint John where he was employed over 40 years as a Sales and Service Technician at Coastal Business Machine making many friends and memories along the way. Sheldon loved traveling especially Cruising the Caribbean.  Sheldon enjoyed playing crib, gardening but most of all, he treasured the time he spent on the Golf Course with his brothers and best friends. Sheldon‘s passion was his trailer at the Sussex KOA where he got to spend every summer with his second family for the past 15 years. 

Sheldon will be deeply missed by the love of his life, his wife of 33 years, Jannie Phillips of Saint John, son Roy Nairn of Saint John, daughter Lisa Nairn of Saint John, Brothers; Gordon and Connie Phillips of Plumweseep, Evan and Liz Phillips ofMarkhamville, and Ralph and Jane Phillips of Sussex, NB.  Sheldon is also survived by several sister in laws, nephews, nieces, great nephews, great nieces and cousins.    Besides his parents, Sheldon was predeceased by his beloved daughter Carrie Phillips (Lord). 

The family would like to thank Dr G Van Niekerk, Dr Amy Groom, Dr Mohiuddin, Dr Mackin, the Oncology Dept at the SJRH, Julie Smart Oncology Navigator at the SJRH, Extra Mural SJ, and Bobby’s Hospice for their Amazing Care and Compassion.

Arrangements are under the care of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Rd., Saint John, NB. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 14, 2026, from 2 – 4pm and 6 – 8pm. A Funeral Service will take place on Thursday, January 15, 2026, at 12PM in the Fundy Chapel. In leu of flowers the Family would appreciate a donation to Bobby’s Hospice or a Donor of their choice.
