April 28, 2026

It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of William Cornelius “Billy” Cook, which occurred on Tuesday, April 28th, 2026, at Ridgewood Veterans Wing.  Born on October 8th, 1941, in Sydney, NS, he is the son of the late Mary Elizabeth (Cook) LeLievre.

Billy was an Army Veteran with the Canadian Armed Forces and proudly served 7 years in Cypress and Germany.  He was a trucker with Erb Trucking for 40 years.  Billy was a jack of all trades with a great sense of humor and he loved his fur babies.  He was generous and kind-hearted and would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need.  He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Billy is survived by his loving and devoted partner Mary Helen Snow of 24 years; step-daughters Leta Doucette (Bob) and Darlene Snow (Mike) all of Saint John;  sister Brenda Baillie (Jim) of Nova Scotia; granddaughter Sarah Doucette and close friends Peter and Wesley Debly.

Along with his mother, Billy was predeceased by his grandparents Henry & Cecilia Cook.

A special thank you to the doctors, nurses, staff and residents of Ridgewood for your friendship, kindness and compassion.  It will not be forgotten.

Arrangements are under the direction of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (506-646-2424).  As per Billy’s wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral service.  A private family interment will take place at St. Joseph’s Cemetery at a later date.  Donations in memory of Billy may be made to the SPCA-Animal Rescue, Ridgewood Veterans Wing or to the charity of the donor’
