William “Billy” James Walton

April 11, 1939  –  May 5, 2026

William “Billy” James Walton, fondly known to many as “Crazy Horse,” passed away peacefully on May 5, 2026, at the age of 87. A humble man with a big personality, Bill lived a long, full life defined by his massive heart and carefree spirit.

Born during the Great Depression, Bill’s humble beginnings instilled in him a profound work ethic. Bill enjoyed spending time with his family, and his grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the apples of his eye. He was a dedicated Longshoreman for over 40 years, often taking on side construction jobs and various other roles throughout his life. He was a true handyman who could build or fix anything.

Bill’s greatest legacy was his generosity; he was known for helping countless people in need. He had a deep love for the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing, and in his younger years, he excelled in gymnastics. He found joy in the simple things: long walks, shooting pool, playing cards, watching movies, and—above all else—spending time with his family and friends.

He was predeceased by his parents, William James Walton Sr. and Rita Mary Clark; former spouse, Grace Walton; sister, Jeanie Folkins; brother, Percy Graham; sons, Billy and Tommy Walton, and granddaughter, Jillian Alexander.

Bill is survived by his sister, Kathy Gramm; cousin, Fonsi Walton (who Bill considered his brother); his sons, Peter (Carrie Smith) Alexander and Gordon “Gordie” (Diane) Alexander. He also leaves behind five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Billy remained very close to his large extended family, including the Walton, Court, Bremen, Winchester, and Osborne families.

The family extends their deepest gratitude to the staff at Milledgeville Shannex for the exceptional care and compassion they provided during his residency, especially in his final days.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row (506-634-7424), where, in keeping with Bill’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A visitation will be held on Sunday, May 10, 2026 from 2:00 – 8:00 PM. A Funeral Liturgy will take place at Brenan’s Chapel on Monday, May 11, 2026 at 1:00 PM and will be immediately followed by a reception in the funeral home’s reception centre.

For those who wish, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, Canadian Cancer Society, Diabetes Canada, Bobby’s Hospice, Huntington Society of Canada or a charity of one’s choice
